We Love CO|TE | PRESS DAY 9 NOVEMBRE

CO|TE is an Italian brand founded by designers Tomaso Anfossi and Francesco Ferrari. Both are graduates of the prestigious Istituto Marangoni in Milan. Tomaso and Francesco meet whilst jointly involved in several important collaborations, and from this a fast friendship and a foundation for their brand CO|TE was born. CO|TE means shelter and protection, a theme that young designers use in their collections, produced in Italy following the tradition and quality of Made in Italy.

The designs originate from a non-stop exchange of ideas: the ever present reference is image of a curious woman, who loves to experiment without being ordinary. Geometric shapes are the basis of each single piece and that is why the choice of fabrics is of primary importance, to maintain the desired volume, not only in the design phase of the silhouette but also when the clothes are worn.

The final image is created by games of chromatic overlays which express the concept of a new austerity. The collection focuses on the female body, giving it sensuality, without making it vulgar.

Givenchy Fall Winter 2011-12

Riccardo brought us birds of paradise in his recent menswear collection, for couture the birds of paradise teamed up with angels to deliver a heavenly collection. Delicate gowns with architectural constructions illustrate the technical prowess that only Haute Couture can propose. Fabrics include romantic Chantilly lace, airy feathers, gauzy silk tulle, downy raw cashmere and diaphanous organza contrasting with pony skin, nappa leather, metal chains, cotton macrame lace, white beads and reflecting pearls. All the pieces were touched by the hands of albino angels in white, ecru, cream, chalk, beige and light gold and not a hint of black anywhere.

Line We Love House Of Waris By Waris Ahluwalia

Waris Ahluwalia  is one of New York's many polymaths. He's a designer, actor, artist, fashion muse, style icon and story teller. He's also one of the few Sikhs here to be called a man-about-town - women adore him - and is photographed at the chicest events wearing a custom made Sa

vile Row suit, pocket square, Indian cashmere scarf and a turban.

House of Waris, his jewellery company, has been described as "idiosyncratically beautiful" - all pieces are handcrafted in Jaipur, and so Ahluwalia splits his time between India and New York. The one of a kind pieces are sold at Colette in Paris, Barneys in New York and Liberty in London, amongst other luxury stores. He has designed a more affordable diffusion line called 'Waris Loves You', exclusively for yoox.com

Waris
Ahluwalia is sticking his neck into the fashion circus with a colorful launch of scarves. In vivid blues, greens, pinks, yellows and grays, the wraps are in embroidered cashmere and silk and the techniques used to create them are sourced from India, where Ahluwalia was born.
Ahluwalia  decided to expand his label, the House of Waris, for practical reasons. “I’ve got to grow the business… and jewelry is a very costly business,” he said. “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but gold is expensive, so right now my cost of production is outrageous. What I wanted was another category which didn’t cost as much. It’s still expensive. Cashmere is expensive, but not compared to gold.” He added, “And I do wear scarves, I love scarves, and it’s materials, it’s textiles, it’s the same sort of raw materials… they all get worked into beautiful things.”
Like his jewelry, Ahluwalia said the designs were inspired by “love and history. I don’t understand either of them, but that’s what keeps me coming back.”
