Christie's to Auction Elizabeth Taylor's $150 Million Jewelry Collection

Jewelry hounds? This is one of those times when I wish I had a few $mil burning a hole in my pocket. OK. That's not an 'uncommon' thought, but the news that Christie's is auctioning Elizabeth Taylor's jewelry collection is sending my blingy consumption habit into orbit!

Yes, it's true. People.com reports the famed auction house will be putting Dame Liz's baubles on the block - and yes, the stash includes all of her 'big hits' - including Taylor's rumored favorite, The Krupp Diamond(!!!)

Christie's declined to comment on the story, and there is no word yet if the proceeds will benefit Elizabeth Taylor's charity, The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation - but you can be sure jewelry lovers the world over will be pushing the paddle hard to get their paws on a little piece of jewelry perfection.

In the meantime, I'm loving all of the jewelry-related tidbits that keep trickling out as the world mourns the loss of an icon. Lorraine Schwartz (famed red carpet jeweler and friend of Taylor's) told People that magnificent gems were a natural part of Taylor’s day-to-day life.

“People always gave her gifts … it was something that she learned to love.” And she took great care of them, too. “She [had] collections and collections, and rooms. She [knew] where every single piece was. [It was] amazing.”

In fact, Schwartz remembers receiving a phone call one morning in 2003 after Taylor had taken a fall. “She was like, ‘I don’t feel good, my hair is dirty but I’m wearing my bracelet,’” she recalls. “I mean, fabulous."

Paris Fashion Week Rue du Mail Fall 2011

They came in fitted and ruched knits and a bell-shaped sleeveless velvet, and there was a lot of novelty in a group made from swagged silk threads, especially the narrow gold number. The smart investment this season? That would be the slender coat-dress. Everybody's got a version on their runway, but Rue du Mail's—with its one draped and fringed lapel—is more sexy than boxy, guaranteeing higher returns.

Let me refer you over to an awesome amount of fabulousness.....

Hi guys!

Just a quickie from me, But I loved the latest post by Dee over at The Merry Traveller so much that I felt I had to refer you all over there to have a nosey (if you haven't already seen it!) Dee set everyone a challenge to 'Dress Up Your Denim' in anyway you could and my, haven't the girls stepped up to the plate! My personal fave is the outfit put together by the very awesome Katrin of http://reizende-rundungen.blogspot.com/. I love her edgy, rock chick look, she's so creative with her outfits and totally inspires me! Please Katrin, DRESS ME!!!!!

I love denim, but Ive pretty much edged away from it recently (as I mentioned in my last post) as I seem to favour the super comfort of leggings instead, but I am totally inspired by these ladies now, and I may, (if funds allow) treat myself to some awesome denim and jump on the bandwagon! Some of my fave denim pieces at the mo are....

...And my must have after being totally inspired by Katrin.....

Paris Fashion Week Nicolas Andreas Taralis Fall 2011

Taralis showed a couple of biker jackets in quilted washed and distressed leather. Less tough? Not from where we were sitting. That's hardly a complaint, though: His jackets still look great, cut lean and a bit meaner than in the past thanks to a bold, slightly peaked, and of-the-moment shoulder. The fit looks right on his slim trousers, too. As for the denim, it can be hard to justify a spot for jeans on a runway, but the designer gave them a reason for being there by adding edgy industrial zippers that snaked up the legs. Now might still be a difficult time to get a young business up and running, but from the looks of the editors and retailers lining up to greet Taralis after the show, many people were happy to be rediscovering him.
