Things that make me go 'Ohhhhhhhhhhh'

So,

I am sat at home with a bitch of a stomach virus, and thought I may aswell do something slightly productive other than loafing around on the sofa feeling sorry for myself, so, a round-up of some things that are actually putting a smile on my face at the moment, like they say focus on the positive....

1) Guys Who Like Fat Chicks - An article by Camille Dodero on the USA's 'Village Voice'

This has first and foremost made me smile because I am acquainted with some of the people featured within this interview. I know that it has a mixed bag of opinions on it at the moment, but I believe that it is a well rounded read, helping to diminish the stigma around preferring a fat partner. The people who have been interviewed aren't 'creeps' or 'fetishists' or 'weirdos', they are ordinary, intelligent, aspiring people, who have a preference, just like you and I, take a look!

2) Super Fierce Pin-up Style...

I spotted a Tumblr post earlier which linked to a fabulous Etsy store called Rocket Betty whom specialises in pin-up clothing, not just any old pin-up clothing, but they also do custom! Anyway, the dresses are really eye catching but to be honest, it was the model of one of the dresses (see above) who really caught my eye, a super fierce, tattoo'ed glamour puss. She inspired me to put together a little pin-up outfit round-up...

I adore pin-up glam, for me it never goes out of fashion and anybody can rock it. It gives confidence in an instant and oozes sex appeal!

3)Fatshionista Inspired Facebook Competitions by fave plus size retailers....

Simply Be have a competition going on at the moment via their Facebook Page

We are offering 10 of our facebook fans the chance to attend the Launch of a NEW Designer Range from Simply Be for the AW11 Collection. The launch is a breakfast event on Thursday 14th July at a fabulous London Hotel. The prize also includes £150 to spend on an outfit from Simply Be to wear to the event, 1 nights hotel stay in London (if required) and standard return travel to and from the event and/or hotel

Thats my kinda prize, I really really really want to go, but I thought Id let all you lovely ladies know about it too! If you win a place and I don't, make sure you tell me all about it!!!!

4)British Designers in the limelight....

I don't really need to summarise this, you all know what I mean by 'That McQueen wedding dress....', Sarah Burton has really done the label proud with her elegant lace creation for the Royal Wedding, I have always thought of McQueen as edgy, gothic and dark, but this has bought a whole new license to the outstanding British Label...God Save McQueen!

And last but not least....

5) Recycling old wardrobe items.....

I have recently had a massive wardrobe purge and now have a huge bag full of stuff to get rid of. Due to my recent bad experience with eBay (again), I have decided that I am going to have a blog sale. I will be uploading pictures very shortly and posting them on here for people to have a peruse and maybe get themselves a bargain. So keep coming back to see if Ive got my bum into gear and got it all sorted!

Thanks for listening to me while I passed my virus induced time away...

Leopard lust OOTD!

Well hello there! It has been a short while since I last posted but I am back now and I promise to be better this time around, honest!

My life has been so busy over the past couple of weeks and Ive been trying my best to cover all bases with everyone and everything but sometimes i
t doesn't always work the way you would like it to, ya know? I sadly left my job at the theatre a couple of weeks ago, which was extremely sad and totally unexpected and unplanned but I realise now that it is for the best. Luckily the people I worked with there were not just work colleagues but amazing friends whom wont be getting rid of me anytime soon! In fact, I got to spend Saturday night with them to celebrate the lovely Katie's 21st (+VAT) birthday! I knew I had a busy weekend planned and to go with it all I had a bit of an online shopping spree! Included in my purchases were a fab pair of drapey utility trousers from Evans, which I will post about soon, promise! And what I want to show you in this post, a stunning leopard print wrap dress from ASOS Curve.

I have had my eye on this dress since it was released on the site. I am an absolute sucker for a bit of leopard print, I swear to god, if there wasn't about 50 years difference between us, and the fact that she is totally fictional, I am pretty sure Bette Lynch and I were seperated at birth!

I have to admit, as much as I have loved ASOS Curve, unfortunately just recently I have found that everything I order has ended up being sent back, the main reason being poor sizing. No 2 garments have been consistently si
zed, I feel, which has been a real shame. I honestly do not feel that the garments being modelled on girls whom aren't even big enough to fit into the size dimensions of the range is helpful at all either. Considering the range starts at a size 20 and goes up to a size 26, seeing a dress exclusive to the range modelled on a girl no bigger than a size 12 and 5,11 isn't a true representation of the range. I understand why ASOS has to do this but in that case I think Id rather see it on a mannequin or dummy or something. Im also aware that the industry isnt full of perfectly sized plus size models so its a lose lose scenario I suppose. Anyway, back to the item that I haven't had to send back! Woooooooooo! Here is a pic of me in the wrap, leopard print dress, taken last night dancing away to cheesy 90's music and downing ridiculous amounts of wine....

ASOS Curve Leopard Print Wrap Dress - £35 (on sale for £28 atm!!)

I adore this dress, the jersey material is so lightweight it falls perfectly and the cut, for me was just stunning! I teamed it up with some really sweet red kitten heels from Primark, a little red handbag from Peacocks and a lovely gold enamel heart necklace, also from Primark which I picked up from the Oxford Street branch when I went along to Plus London. I am sometimes prone to going a bit OTT on super colour coordination but I just couldn't help myself this time! I also slicked on some red lippy and went mental with 2 pairs of ultra glam lashes (total lash whore!).
My only criticisms of the dress, and something for you to take note of girls if you do order it is that the actual wrap closure of the dress is just 2 little plastic press studs and a little bit of a tie, which I was a little bit worried about coming undone. I had a friend on dress watch for me as I was worried about being exposed at any given moment! LOL! I cant wait to wear the dress again though and experiment with some other outfit ideas with it! So on this occassion ASOS, you did good! Keep em coming!

Anyway, I am off for now, but I will be back to post some more ASAP! I have an OOTD post with those drapey utility bottoms and I have been proper lusting over some super costume jewellery rings (A certain Miss Amy Simons fault!!!!)

But for now, night night lovies!!!!

BIG LOVE

Runway Inspiration - Hazy 70's chic

Hey guys,

So, theres the tricklings of the new Spring/Summer trend edging its way into stores at the moment ready for the up and coming season. A key look which is coming through is 70's chic, which I have to admit I am so excited about. When I saw the return of beautifully tailored wideleg trousers, the maxi dress sticking around with new gorgeous chiffon layers thrown in and super fun prints I was thrilled! Im so sick of squeezing myself into my skinny jeans, I mean, dont get me wrong I have loved them but Im a happier girl with the return of the widelegs, Im serious! One of the main reasons for me sticking to dresses and leggings over the past year was due to the sheer comfort and not wanting to deal with the pain that skinny jeans and jeggings can be! I know, I know, we should all wear what we are comfortable in but I am guilty of being a bit of a throw away fashion victim. So Ive had a nosey through some of the runway looks from 2010 which forcast the impending sexy 70's, and this Derek Lam look was by far my favourite, I actually cannot wait to get on this look....

Pintuck Blouse - £22.99 New Look Inspire

Soda Mix Tassle Bag - £34 Evans

Wideleg Trousers - £25 Very

Peeptoe Wedge - £50 ASOS

Earrings - £7.50 Evans

Ring - £5 Evans

I know I have moaned about New Look Inspire recently, but as the new season is starting to come through I have noticed that their items seem to be much more on trend than what we were seeing last year and replicating their straight size range much more. There is loads and loads of chiffon, which is great but I am hoping that they dont OD on it. The accessories line at Evans is brilliant at the moment, so much glam stuff, I am going to be better with accessories this year (this is my pledge!). I am also looking forward to seeing the new styles that come through with the maxi as the season draws nearer. The maxi was my best friend last summer, I have to say I have never felt sexier than when I wore mine, so flattering and comfortable whatever your shape or size!

What looks are you loving ladies?!

So anyway, I am off to the Plus Size Tall, Evans model final tomorrow to support my friend Lorna who I asked you all to vote for previously! I cant wait to take lots of pics, so will update you all on that. I am also starting a new job on Monday (Squee) no more uniform and lots of officey dressing so hopefully Ill have some more OOTD's for you!

Treats? At Boots? Yes Please!

This is just a quick post to give all you ladies a heads up, but if any of you are like me and might aswell have your wages paid to Boots then you will love this....

I just had my Advantage card statement and in it was an advert about how you can now collect points on your Advantage card when shopping at stores such as Evans, ASOS, Dorothy Perkins, New Look, etc etc! Not only that, but if you go to www.boots.com/treatstreet and click on their A-Z of stores they also tell you what special offers and discounts are on at each particular store at the moment. You have to register with them online at the 'Treat Street' web address and enter your Advantage card details, then to collect the points from each particular store you have to hit up the web address through the Treat Street link so they can track you purchase and then 'et voila' more points! Im heading over to ASOS right now to hit up the sale! WIN!

Pleaseeeeeeeee ASOS, Please?!?!

For the 6 year old girl in all of us, jus a quick 'OMG PLEASE MAKE THIS FOR ME ASOS' post....

Rare Opulance Corset Ballet Dress - £165 ASOS (Sold Out)

Please ASOS Curve, if you are reading this, this is my official plea for you to make a version of this dress for all of us Curvettes (Or just me, I dont care!) Argggghhhh!!!! So cute!

Have a 'hoppin' new year!

Hola Blogosphere!!!

Did you all have very merry Christmas's? I hope so! Ive finally had an evening off work and thought Id drop you a line just so you know Im alive and well and because I just like randomly chatting at anyone who will listen (or read)! I had a lovely Xmas day, well from what I remember. I was itching to post an OOTD but I unfortunately got a little bit drunk and fell asleep before I had chance to get anyone to snap me! Nevermind! I got bought lots of nice things from my family and also got some vouchers, which I cant wait to spend but Im waiting for the new season stuff to come in as I always end up buying tat in the sales which I never wear! I am also looking forward to my second Christmas day and present opening with Mr Naomi on Friday, heres hoping he's got me lots of nice things too! *wink wink*

Anyway, I promised I was going to post a really awesome retro, 50's inspired outfit a few weeks ago so here it finally is! On my recent girls night out in London, my lovely Miranda friend wore an AMAZING 50's vintage inspired, pinup dress. She received so much attention over it that I asked if she minded if I blogged about it. I know a lot of women, myself included, who love the whole glitz and glam which I feel is embodied in 50's style. Here is Miranda in her gorge Vivien of Holloway red dress pictured with another of one of my very beautiful friends Lorna...

Miranda's Outfit:

Red & Black Polka Dot Halterneck Circle Dress - £69 Vivien of Holloway

Matching Bolero - £25 Vivien of Holloway

Red Stretch Waisted Belt - £14 Vivien of Holloway

Lorna's Outfit:

Faux Fur Shrug - £70 French Connection @ ASOS

Black Dress - Thrifted @ Big Bum Jumble

Miranda's dress was from the Vivien of Holloway store located on Holloway Road in London, but there is an extensive collection of 50's inspired reproduction dresses on the stores website. What you also can't see pictured in the photographs is the beautiful petticoat which is being worn underneath the dress, also from Vivien of Holloway for £59, layers of beautiful tulle fabric which really gives the dress that oomph! I love all the individuality within all of my friends, and Miranda is absolutely no exception, she's definately no shrinking violet who would never get overlooked, as she puts it...

'My style? 50's 'At the hop' as much as I can do [...] generally just going balls to the wall as much as I can with a bit of bespoke boutique thrown in'.

I love how daring and individual her look is and being able to find gorgeous vintage inspired pieces in plus size is an absolute WIN! Vivien of Holloway's range goes up to a UK size 24, but please check their size chart, as Im guessing due to the tailoring of the garments their sizing may vary from more mainstream retailers.

I also absolutely loved Lorna's gorgeous faux fur shrug from French Connection @ ASOS! A bit on the pricey side, but definitely an investment piece! Lorna told me it is actually a UK size 14, but she thought she would try it anyway (Lorna ranges from a UK size 16-20'ish on top, I hope Im right?) but she wanted to point out that this is...

'...proof that it's always worth giving something a go to see if it works for you.'

Also while we are talking about my luscious red headed friend, just a little plea for all you lovely boys and girls to please go and vote for her if you have a spare minute in the Plus Size Tall Model search competition. Its just a quick sign up and a little clickety click! She is a beautiful girl, with a real healthy outlook on the whole size debate, intelligent and articulate, a great role model for plus size women, she also looks after me a lot *D'awwwwwww* so....

*VOTE FOR LORNA HERE*

So I think thats about it for the mo, but I cant wait to post about all the bits and pieces I will probably end up buying in the next few days (yeh I know I said I was staying away from the sales but I know Ill end up with something!) Oh and dont forget that discount is still valid over at Plus Size Tights.com until the 3rd of January, just enter 'diamondsnpearls' at the checkout!

In a bizzle guys...

BIG LOVE AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

<3

WANT WANT WANT!

Just a quick post this evening, I want this outfit so hard...

Dress - ASOS Curve £38

Shoes - ASOS £45

...and the shoes are just so awesome, but maybe a little to high for moi! Id still give them a try though!

I have unfortunately spent so much money this week though so purchases of said items will be on hold for the mean time! I have finally picked up a biker jacket from Evans, which I am waiting on delivery on and also a black tulip cut skirt and an embellished shoulder t-shirt from Yours Clothing which should be with me by Monday fingers crossed! So as soon as I get them I will post some pics and maybe a cheeky OOTD? Until then, I shall be dreaming of tottering about in those amazing peeptoes, clad in awesome dress, amazing clutch in one hand and an enormous cocktail in the other....*bliss*

Hello Blog-o-sphere!

Come one, come all and marvel at this here miracle! I finally plucked up the courage to actually start blogging instead of just talking about doing so! So this, my little sugar plums, is my very first blog post! *Cue 'ohhhh' and 'ahhhhh'ing noises from anticipatory crowd*

Now now, lets not get overly excited just yet as it could all go terribly wrong but before that happens let me introduce myself! I, Miss Naomi, am a 26 year old fat chick from the West Midlands and I am passionate about all things plus size! I have been noseying around the Fatshion community for around a year now, and although I maybe a little late to the parade of fabulously fierce fatshionista's I am hoping my little contribution wont go a miss! Being on the larger end of the plus size scale being anything betwen a size 24-30 dependent on where I shop (how many of us have that problem ladies? Aye!) and 5ft 4in, choices are even more limited, I have found so much inspiration from other plus size bloggers and hope that I can bring a little bit more input to all the other voluptuous beauties out there!

Over the past year I have been massively impressed with the progression of plus size fashion and more so the impact independent fatshion bloggers have made upon an industry which used to pale in comparison to what it is at the moment. My own personal highlight so far has been the arrival of the incredibly fresh and bang on trend
ASOS Curve range, a range which I feel could not have happened and been so successful from the start without the input of passionate plus sizers whom were crying out for key trends to be made available to them. ASOS did amazingly well I feel in creating the Curve range and put many other plus size retailers to shame by offering mainstream looks at affordable prices, is that not what us curvy counterparts wanted all along? Why yes it is! That being said, I feel that there is definitely still room for improvement within the industry and am looking forward to watching the twists and turns, and now blogging about them along the way!

Anyway, I am gonna wrap this up, but I assure you that now I have finally broken the ice with you all I wont go away (unless you really really want me to?). Please say ello, follow me on my Twitter, send me a postcard or messenger pigeon or whichever way you crazy kids communicate these days and I will welcome the knowledge that there are indeed peoples out there interested in my ramblings!

*Phew, done!*
