Christos Dovas was born and raised in Patras on the mainland of Hellas. His deeply traditional experience, classical education, and focus on exploring the intimate relationship between the classical and the modern world are the hallmark of his stunning creations. At an early age Christos Dovas was apprentice to his father Eleftherios Dovas, a custom shoe designer. He saw his father making Cinderella's tiny pair of red velvet, pearl-encrusted, high-heeled mules. He saw him working hard on his workbench, executing down to the last detail every little aspect of how to make it perfect and he didn't even know how great he was made him So proud. His life was only about how to make a living and how to satisfy the customer.
Christos Dovas said “I saw the lady, I saw the little old mirror some of its silver paint on the back had chipped off, this one with the velvet cord, not hanging, as it should but lying on the floor against the wall. I saw both faces, the lady's anticipation over the new ordered laced evening shoes made her face glow and my father's obsession over the new challenge. I saw him cutting the lace, putting it with the silver lining, creating it over the wooden form, to make a shoe, all executed by hand, stitch by stitch. I saw him making the fire for the engraved iron frame and when hot to put it over the golden tape and push it down on the leather for his signature to show. I was the one to deliver and to get the tip! some of it for candies, some of it to save. And when my father was not making shoes for customers he was making them for my mom. Simple! From his father, Christos Dovas acquired the foundation for his passion to create innovative and classical designs crafted with a master’s attention to impeccable structure and precision construction. Graduating from a private fashion school in Athens Christos Dovas embraced the life of a fashion designer. Overcome by his passion he continued his education while working in Athens as an assistant designer in a haute couture atelier. However the restless artist within drove his heart in new realms. Seeking the poetry of the world stage Christos Dovas was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design/haute couture evening wear from the Fashion Institute of Technology. His extensive focus in studies of Theatrical Costume Design earned him an internship in the Costume Department of New York’s Metropolitan Opera.
Christos Dovas’ principle is to conceive and create innovative with perfect execution resulting in designs that naturally enhance a woman’s beauty; for the woman who relishes in feeling glamorous, who appreciates the finer things in life; for the woman who is sophisticated, elegant, for the beautiful woman who loves beauty.
