Pafe Studio, a gyaru cafe

Hey everyone, sorry for missing a day yesterday. It was Memorial Day here in the US, so my friend came over and replaced my car battery (still need the alternator replaced though TT) and I just ended up with no time.

Well today I will review a cafe that might be interesting for those interested in gyaru, models, and/or sweets XD

That's right, the Pafe Studio Cafe! It is a cafe that is produced by the same company as the Cute! Girls of town models. And the basic premise is to bring customers into a close environment with the models.

Some young workers advertising the location of Pafe Studio

I decided to visit the Pafe Studio cafe because I thought it would be an interesting place to introduce here, and it's not well-known (especially overseas).

Pafe Studio is located halfway down on Takeshita Dori, in a very non-descript location. You can find directions on their site but when you get there it's rather hidden. Down a stairway, into a kinda older/less cared for building.

Pafe Studio, the kitchen area

You then enter the cafe to the left, which is decorated very cutely in pink and white colors. A few Cute! models will be there; some work the register and make the food, others are there just to be cute and take photos.

The model/worker making the parfait I ordered

Honestly it was SUPER awkward. There were only 2 other customers, just sitting off in the corner, there was no interaction - the models seems bored.

I could tell I was freaking them out, and it was just so uncomfortable >< Perhaps a cuter or better dressed foreign girl would receive a better reception than me but...

My order, a choco banana parfait for 500 yen

It was also awkward because these quite old and strange looking men would come in with girls, and take their photo on the photo wall. Were they models, or random girls?

I had ordered a parfait, which took an amazingly long time to make considering it was just decorated icecream haha! I was so happy to finally have something to do, and the parfait itself was fine.

Sorry, I don't know the left girl, but the right girl is MisaMisa who shows up in Popteen sometimes.

I asked the models there for a photo before I left, luckily they were kind about it. I think that is the main point of Pafe Studio.

You don't go here for the atmosphere or food, you go here to meet and take photos of models. So if you think of it that way you won't be disappointed!

This is the "photoshoot" area, I make awkward face for my awkward feeling haha!

OOTM

OOTM? Whats that?
Well, OOTM for me is 'Outfit Of The Moment'.

I, my dears am a bit of a creature of habit. If I like a song I will play it non-stop until I cant stand it, if theres something I have eaten that I love, I will gorge on it until I am probably repulsed by it, and, when I find an outfit that I feel really comfy in but I also feel it shows off my personality perfectly I will probably wear it till its thread-bare....

Queue New Look Inspire dress that I bought in a sale one season and never wore. Shunned it to the back of my wardrobe for it to never see the light of day. Why? I have no idea now come to think of it. I remember buying it, loving it, but then never putting it on. I recently had a massive wardrobe clear out and I was about to put it in my 'to bin' pile, when for some reason I decided at the last moment to give it another chance.

The straps were falling away from the bodice, so I tacked them up and it has lost a few sequins through being thrown about in the back of my closet, but its now become a firm outfit staple for me in this unforgiving rainy, on/off summer we're currently having. Put together with a cosy cardigan and my very favourite Evans boots that I recently had from their online sale and I'd pretty much say Im a happy girlie! If I fancy a change I'll throw my denim shirt over the top just to switch it up a little.

Now heres something I need to say, because sometimes I get a bit worried when I'm blogging that people are looking at me and thinking 'why is she blogging, she hasn't got any style, blah blah blah, ya-da, ya-da, ya-da'. And here it is, in no way do I believe I am the best dressed person out there, I am, just another fat girl, who loves clothes, who loves dressing up, who loves to feel good. I have my own unique sense of style. I am a full on girly girl, I like to wear dresses that I probably wouldn't have given myself the option of wearing say 5 or 6 years ago, I love anything sparkly, glittery and probably a bit tacky. I'm no high fashion, high trend diva, I pick and choose elements of whats currently riding high in the fashion stakes that suit me and my style and personality. What I have learnt over the past few months is that I need to dress for me, and what makes ME comfortable and happy. I remember going through a bit of an identity crisis a few months ago and I was lost in a sea of 'OMGZED WHAT DO I WEAR?'

So I suppose this little excerpt today is to all you girls who have maybe lost their way. I want to say to all of you, JUST BE YOU! If you like my style, if you like X,Y, Z bloggers style, than go for it, attempt it, but somewhere, in amongst that replication make sure you leave room for you!

Im not really sure why I am putting this out there, maybe its down to me being a bit lacking in confidence at the moment, so more a stark reminder to myself, that I need to start getting confident again, but whatever it is, I hope you all remember to just be yourselves!

P.S my 'SOTM'

UD: Let’s cast our minds back to where it all began for you. When did you first get into the fashion industry and how did it come about?

AF: I was practicing as a fine artist up until then and I came to the conclusion that my artworks were like story boards for yet to be realised fashion collections so I launched the ALEXI FREEMAN label for Spring Summer 2006/2007

UD: What inspires Alexi Freeman ?

AF :The clouds, my dreams, the shapes that I see when I close my eyes... pretty much anything except fashion itself.

UD:  How would you describe your designs?

AF: casual, sexy and alluring

UD: What for you is exciting in fashion now?

AF: I'm excited by the wave of fashion labels collaborating with film makers to realise experiential videos that give us all more of an insight into the world of the designer and their vision. I also think the reinvigoration of old European houses by the designers of today is fascinating and is helping to create a more diverse culture of fashion globally.

UD: What has been your greatest fashion moment?

AF: It hasn't happened yet...

UD: Which pieces do you prefer to design , do you have a favorites?

AF: I'm pretty obsessed with designing dresses.

UD:  Do you design with a muse in mind?

AF: No

UD: What do you want women to feel when they are wearing Alexi Freeman?

AF: more themselves then they did before they started wearing AF.

UD: What was your inspiration behind the AW 11 “Stardust” collection?

AF: Deep Space.

UD:  What was the most enjoyable moments of designing AW 11 “Stardust “collection?

AF: Playing with the two-tone stardust sequins. Endless entertainment! Also making our first film, Stardust.

UD:  What can we expect from Alexi Freeman Upcoming Collection ?

AF: Check out our  Neo Lace Gown  Neo Lace Gown for a glimpse at what we have in store for you....

UD: If we invest in one thing this season, what should it be?

AF: An ALEXI FREEMAN Stardust trench. Definitely an heirloom in the making!

UD:  Who, past and present, would you most like to dress?

AF: past: Isabella Blow. Present: probably Gaga. I'm not sure if anyone loves experimenting with fashion as much as she does.

UD:  Are there any designers, past or present, that you would have liked to work with?

AF: Alexander McQueen. Martin Margiela.

UD:  What do you think sets Australia apart from the rest of the world in terms of fashion and style?

AF: Probably our penchant for wearing couture with converse. We like to mix it up here which is nice.

UD: Do you plan to be based in Australia for the foreseeable future?

AF:  For the timebeing, yes. Although relocating to Europe in a few years time isn't entirely out of the question.

UD:  Finally, do you have any advice to an up and coming fashion designer?

AF: Well they say 10 years is an overnight success in the business, so get ready to work your proverbial butt off!

A properly fitted hood ensures that the bird remains calm while in the presence of humans, as otherwise it may become alarmed and distraught. A hood is essential in making a bird ready for training. The acclimatization of the bird to humans is known as "manning" and is the first step in the training regimen."

My skirt collection

Hi there everyone, its like a bit of a lull right now, I had been shopping earlier but all I got was one manga. Suddenly I feel like reading some manga and luckily Borders was offering 40% off one item^^

Anyhow earlier this week the very lovely Chiihime asked me about my skirt collection, in regards to the skirt in this week's One 7 Ways voting. She asked if I could write about my skirts, and it seems like a fun different type of post.

I don't think I have so many skirts, but perhaps it seems like it. (I've sold some recently)

Black and White skirts!

1. Vanquish dot skirt; 2. tutuHA union jack skirt; 3. Justice spangle skirt; 4. W*C black lace skirt; 5. H&M tulle skirt; 6. Kohl's striped skirt; 7. H&M highwaist bandage skirt

Patterned and color skirts!

8. Target rose skirt; 9. H&M floral skirt; 10. Forever21 floral bandage skirt; 11. Target denim skirt; 12. Forever21 leopard skirt; 13. W*C dot skirt; 14. Target plaid skirt; 15. Forever21 abstract print skirt

Looking over the skirts, the majority are cheap or off brands, and I have more branded skirts in the black and white category haha. I believe its due to my natural tendency to black and white.

I'm never certain about patterned skirts so I guess I just prefer to buy cheap ones in case I can't use them or they don't suit me. I'd like to get some a pink skirt, but I've been buying straight skirts and shorts more now, since they look more mature TT

The leopard print skirt is really new, I just got it yesterday XD I sold my CRYX leopard print tutu skirt, and so I got this less fluffy version because a leopard skirt is necessary!

Here are the other things I've gotten recently. I'm in love with the middle colorful dress, it's so slimming and fun^^ The purple ethnic print sheer onepiece is so cool and should be good for summer heat.

And some earrings! Included only because I like how this pic turned out XD love the color of them tho.

Walking in Harajuku picspam Part Two

Yay, its finally time for part two of the "Walking in Harajuku" picspam. I think it would be fun to continue doing this type of series and expand into other areas like Shibuya and Shinjuku.

Just as a recap - these photos are from July 21st 2010. On that day I wanted to explore Harajuku and go to some specific places (which is the last post coming from that specific day) and I spent alot of time snapping on the street.

Listen flavor is a street fashion brand you can find in Kera magazine. I am always attracted to their bright colors and interesting graphics. This specific shop was especially claustrophobic haha!

We were heading up Takeshita dori, towards the station, to a cafe which is a upcoming post. This shows the thickness of the crowd, actually quite sparse as it was a weekday^^

The infamous Takeshita Liz Lisa, I'm sure lots of you guys would like to shop here! And the nice thing I've noticed is the often have sale items and lucky bags left when other locations have sold out already.

You can sometimes see this type of gyaru with dark skin, light hair and sexy clothes. Though its not the majority so I gave her a snap XD Now we are beginning to head back towards Omotedando^^

Here is some cheap punk fashion for men, this style is quite abundant on Takeshita dori it seems. Not exactly how I would coordinate the pieces, but I don't mind guys in punk clothes haha!

Here's a cheap place to get gyaru clothing, next to the places to get cheap punk clothing and street fashion hehe. That's what is great about Harajuku right?

tutuHA cross sighting!! I always like to spot tutuHA items when I go out and about. Though there are a couple guys in this photo who thought I was trying to get their shot apparently. Sorry guys, its the cute fashion I'm snapping.

I found Kumatan smiling in front of me! This girl was very stylish, though quick! I hope my filters made this photo acceptable haha.

Ok and one more random photo, it was from somewhere in Harajuku, but where? haha. It's super cute so I gotta include this:

Pikachu powered batteries! Just imagine somewhere in Japan there are Pikachu putting their lightening power into batteries haha! Ok, I know its just regular batteries with pokemon on them...
